St. James, Barbados (July 30, 2009)— The Flying Ferkins, a rowing team comprised of Brits Guy Watts and Andrew Delaney, were part of a fleet that became the first rowers to complete the 3,132 nautical mile row across the Indian Ocean from Australia to Mauritius. The St. James Group, a company of the Towner Management Group (TMG), was among the sponsors of the world-record setting trip.
Watts and Delaney, both 24, were the first and youngest rowing pair to ever complete the grueling journey. They and their fleet also set a handful of other race records. The pair participated in the race to raise awareness and money for Orchid, a charity fighting male cancer.
“We could not be more proud of these two outstanding young men,” said Christopher J.N. Towner, founding chairman of TMG. “We salute their outstanding accomplishments and their efforts to call attention to these diseases.”
